Nature of Work:The Department of Arts and Humanities at the College of Coastal Georgia invites applications for a Tenure Track Assistant Professor of English. The Department offers courses in the general education curriculum along with the B.A. in American Studies. This appointment is expected to begin August 1, 2021. This position is an academic year (10-month) appointment; summer teaching opportunities are based on student enrollment. Rank and salary are commensurate with credentials and experience.
Essential Duties:The successful candidate will be a generalist with a demonstrated commitment to the teaching of composition. Responsibilities include teaching first-year composition, co-requisite / learning support, general education courses, and upper-level degree program courses as needed. The candidate must work cooperatively with others and be willing to teach face-to-face, hybrid, and online classes on the Brunswick campus and at the Camden center. While demonstrating excellence in teaching, the candidate will contribute to departmental and college committees, advise students, and demonstrate a commitment to scholarship and professional development.
Minimum Qualifications and Training:- Doctoral degree in English or a related field from a regionally accredited institution must be completed by August 2021.
- Commitment to serving diverse student populations in a collegiate setting.
- Experience teaching composition at the college level.
- Demonstrated experience using technology effectively in the classroom.
- Commitment to using high-impact practices (HIPs).
- Two years of full-time experience teaching composition and English at the college level.
- Experience teaching co-requisite / learning support.
- Secondary expertise in American literature (pre-1900), American Studies, digital humanities, technical writing, cultural rhetorics, and/or the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL).
