STATEMENT OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Academic Program Development (percentage of time: 50%)
Develop, design and implement specific, individualized plans for the development of academic skills, which include, but are not limited to, reading and writing competencies, time management, note-taking techniques and enhanced study habits
Individual Student Assessment (percentage of time: 30%)
Responsible for the assessment and coordination of all aspects of academic services for student-athletes with learning disabilities; work on the needs specifically designed for the learning of assigned student-athletes
Participate in the summer and fall learning disability screening and on-boarding process for new student-athletes
Strategic Engagement (percentage of time: 20%)
Collaborate with other Academic Services staff in the development and delivery of learning strategy programming individually tailored to each student-athlete
Collaborate with staff of assigned programs, along with other staff in Academic Services in coordinating campus visits with prospective student-athletes in areas related to academics
Supervise academic assistants assigned to specific caseload, including scheduling, assigning and reviewing work, and serving as intermediary between student-athlete and academic assistants
Work compatibly and cooperatively with all personnel within the Division of Intercollegiate Athletics and on the University of Illinois campus
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Required: Master’s degree in education, counseling, sport management or closely related field required.
Experience:
Required: One to two years experience in academic services for student-athletes.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience:
Preferred: Experience in academic support services within higher education with at-risk student-athletes in a learning support capacity.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES,
- Knowledge of and compliance with, specific NCAA, Big Ten Conference, and institution rules that relate to this position is required.
- Srong written and oral communication skills.
- Must be available to work some evenings and weekends.
SALARY
Salary will be commensurate with experience
