Occupational Summary

The Analyst is responsible for managing the eSTORE database, website and online inventory presentation, description and pricing for products via a combination of ecommerce database and system programming. Technical support for eSTORE operations and customer service needs are also integral to this role.

Responsibilities

Manage overall eSTORE website content; build new items in database, including: assigning catalog links, adding pricing and product description and inserting images; ensure skus are linked with POS system skus; manage order of appearance within each category based upon determined protocol and maintain its currency and accuracy.

Manage item pricing and catalog links for weekly STORE special sales, including resetting to pre-sale status once sale is over, POS price adjustments, annual catalog updates, and any other relevant events.

Write, update or change code or tags in database related to information published on eSTORE home page, special sales pages, or other content pages related to the eSTORE operations.

Daily review database reports for sales that have resulted in inventory values going to zero; thereafter follow all steps of eSTORE “Stock Out Procedure,” including web messaging, locating item in other stores, initiating transfers or requesting reorders from vendor; perform all necessary follow-up steps related to inventory replenishment and web updates, per “Stock Out Procedure.”

Daily review inventory reports for items with a low balance and advise Assistant General Manager so they can determine whether to initiate transfers.

Prepare daily sales reports and out of stock item reports from database and POS systems for Duke Stores management; write other ad hoc reports in database systems as requested, ensuring the use of the appropriate data elements to provide accurate information.

Act as IT liaison for eSTORE technical needs in relation to ticket submission and completion with Duke OIT, Duke CDSS, and ecommerce platform technical support team.

Oversee technical and seasonal needs of call center operations, including but not limited to monitoring Cisco call center software, maintaining agent computer systems, troubleshooting technical customer service issues, and training and assisting seasonal call center agents.

Collaborate with Web Manager and Assistant Manager on seamless processes and procedures for product flow, event management, inventory maintenance, and item scheduling.

Provide technical support for Duke Stores website as needed.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education/Training:

Bachelor’s degree in information technology or related field is preferred.

Experience:

Minimum of 3 years IT or web experience.

OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Skills:

  • Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and acute observation skills essential
  • Previous experience with HTML, CSS or other web programming language preferred
  • Proficiency with computer technology including POS systems and exception reporting
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks with close attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a diverse and close-working team in a fast-paced setting.
  • Quick learner with demonstrated problem-solving skills.

Duke University was created in 1924 by James Buchanan Duke as a memorial to his father, Washington Duke. The Dukes, a Durham family that built a worldwide financial empire in the manufacture of tobacco products and developed electricity production in the Carolinas, long had been interested in Trinity College. Trinity traced its roots to 1838 in nearby Randolph County when local Methodist and Quaker communities opened Union Institute. The school, then named Trinity College, moved to Durham in 1892, where Benjamin Newton Duke served as a primary benefactor and link with the Duke family until his death in 1929. In December 1924, the provisions of indenture by Benjamin’s brother, James B.
