Normal Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00AM to 4:45PM, limited nights/weekends

Job Summary: The Director of Billing Operations and Coding Compliance provides leadership, direction and administration of all aspects of billing operations and coding compliance for the College of Community Health Sciences.

Additional Department Summary: Provides daily guidance to the Coding Supervisor by overseeing that they direct billing staff in a manner that ensures departmental goals are met, acts as a liaison for HealthIT and a member of CCHS Policy Committee to maintain EMR workflows and policies/processes that are compliant to insurance, state and federal guidelines, manages the daily operations of billing and compliance auditing functions for CCHS, and oversees the daily activities of billing office and chart auditing staff to ensure accomplishment of established organizational objectives.

Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or higher and five (5) years of experience managing accounts receivables, medical billing/collections, clinical operations, and compliance functions, to include some supervisory experience.

Skills and Knowledge: Demonstrated expertise in directing physician/ambulatory staff and operations. Expertise in working with electronic medical records. Understands and embraces the importance of operating an effective compliance program and promoting a strong culture of integrity and responsibility across the college. Ability to work with the Chief Medical Officer and other physicians to determine root cause issues related to clinical data that aren’t meeting Coding Compliance standards. Ability to analyze and interpret complex data. Ability to research and prepare comprehensive reports. Ability to monitor quality control standards. Ability to work at a rapid pace with numerous interruptions. Ability to cope with stressful conditions. Ability to demonstrate tact, versatility, and adaptability. Ability to demonstrate a high degree of self-motivation and directional initiative. Knowledge of health care administration, clinic philosophy, and policies and operational procedures. Knowledge of human resource management practices including supervision and staff development. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and EMR. Skill in exercising initiative, judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making. Skill in developing and maintaining effective relationships with staff, providers, patients, and regulators. Skill in organizing work to achieve clinic goals and objectives.

Preferred Qualifications: Master’s Degree in Business Administration or related field and 7-10+ years of experience. Experience working work with clearing houses, NextGen EPM and EMR, Meditech, and IngeniousMed or other electronic health record systems. Experience in academic lecturing, particularly to physicians, residents, and medical students. Experience in implementing coding compliance programs. Demonstrated knowledge of physician reimbursement in the following areas: CPT-4, ICD-10, HCPCS, and managed care guidelines. Certification in healthcare auditing or medical coding a plus.
