THIS IS A GRANT-FUNDED POSITION.

Job Summary/Essential Job Functions: Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, this position works independently and as part of a large multi-disciplinary team to plan, maintain, and complete all phases of the research program funded by a Merck Investigator initiated project.  Duties include developing complex research protocols, designing, and managing a large research database, and using sophisticated statistical software to clean and analyze complex data. Also performs literature reviews, holds responsibility for scientific writing and reporting, and makes presentations for conferences and/or professional organizations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Designs and oversees an extensive research database using sophisticated statistical software to clean and analyze data. Provides scientific writing and reporting efforts and making presentations for conferences and/or professional organizations.Ensures all research is consistent with compliance standards and participates in the synthesis of data collected at the institution and statewide levels. Completes grant-related progress reports and forms. Confers with principal investigator to develop plans for research projects, the basic objectives, and broad approach required to research. Collaborates with the principal investigator and other research team members to research, modify, and develop methodologies contributing to the overall research objective.Participates in face-to-face and video-conferencing research team meetings.Works with OBGYN residents and faculty on project-related research pursuits. Assists in providing work directions for students and other research staff. Performs other related duties, as assigned. 


Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:  

EDUCATION:  Master’s Degree in Public Health, Science, Statistics, Epidemiology, or related study. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)

EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years’ relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. (Experience in the evidence of research or quality improvement project experience in women's health preferred).

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Advanced knowledge of epidemiological research design and methods of analysis in the research field.
  • Skill in designing and managing an extensive research database.
  • Advanced skills and techniques of compilation and analysis of complex research data.
  • Excellent organizational, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Ability to interpret results and translate into recommendations and to compile information into report form.
  • Ability to work with little supervision and knowledge of human-subjects research.
  • Knowledge of research procedures and knowledge of institutional review board and research protocol compliance.
  • Ability to create manuscripts from data and documents for publication in peer review journals and presentations at local, regional, and national conferences.
  • Skill in performing advanced statistical analyses.
  • Ability to complete a project from beginning to end with little to no supervision.
  • Knowledge of the peer-review publication process.
 

WORK SCHEDULEThis position may be occasionally required to work evenings and weekends. May require occasional overnight travel.
