NoJob Summary/Basic Function:
Teaching literacy coursework in the residential program. The Liberty University School of Education is seeking a full-time (12 month) Reading Specialist faculty member in Lynchburg, VA.
Duties include teaching Education courses in literacy and instruction; contributing to continuous program improvement for reading/literacy; assisting in curriculum review and development; navigating the accreditation process through the Council for Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP); and providing relevant service in line with the mission of the university.
Faculty member will oversee the CAEP program accreditation in the School of Education and guide the school in preparing for CAEP site visits. Faculty member will serve as a liaison between the School of Education, CAEP, and the Virginia Department of Education.
Faculty member will carry out various administrative tasks and other duties assigned by their Chair or DeanMinimum Qualifications:
Applicant must have a PHD or EDD Reading/Literacy, or a related such-as, but not limited to, PHD or EDD in Elementary Education or Curriculum & Instruction with a Reading endorsement on state educator’s license.
Full doctrinal compatibility with Liberty University.
Degree must be from an institution accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
Superior interpersonal, customer service, presentation, and communication skills required.
Creative, innovative, and problem solving skills required.
Proven organizational skills and ability to complete assignments timely and accurately with minimal supervision.
Proficiency in MS Office, Blackboard, Canvas, and the Internet.
Able to obtain and maintain licenses if applicable as required by state or accrediting commissions.
Demonstrated strengths in teaching at the college level is essential.
