General SummaryThe Department of Event Management, Dining, and Hospitality is one of 13 departments within the Division of Student Affairs. It provides the campus community and guests with high-quality, efficient, and innovative event services and dining options in a variety of settings dedicated to accentuating and enhancing the campus experience in a diverse community.
Event Management, Dining, and Hospitality is committed to providing an outstanding dining experience for students, faculty, staff, and guests. This position plays an integral role in accomplishing this goal by administering, evaluating, developing and implementing training programs to improve efficiency, effectiveness and productivity of employees.

Responsibilities include the following:
- Identify training needs on both an individual and group basis utilizing various assessment tools to determine any performance gaps that could be corrected through training.
- Create comprehensive technical skill training programs.
- Design and or draft written procedures by observation of operational processes, collaboration with subject matters experts, research, and department leadership.
- Coordinates and facilitates training sessions. Guides operational administrators in facilitating training.
- Evaluates effectiveness of training programs.
- Conducts orientations.
- Research and evaluate training programs for purchase.
1. Any one or any combination of the following, totaling four years (48 months), from the categories below:
a. credit for college training leading to a major or concentration in education or other fields related to training and development such as human resource administration or business administration or closely related fields
- 30 semester hours equals 12 months
- 60 semester hours equals 24 months
- 90 semester hours equals 36 months
- 120 semester hours or a Bachelor's Degree equals 48 months
b. credit for college training leading to a major or concentration in fields other than those previously listed
- Bachelor's Degree equals 3 years (36 months)
- Master's Degree equals 4 years (48 months)
c. work experience as a human resource or training professional
2. Two years of professional work experience in the training and development profession*
* A Master's degree in education or other fields closely related to training and development (such as human resource administration or business administration) or a Master's degree with a concentration in these fields may be substituted for one year of such experience.
1. Full knowledge of principles of diversity and demonstrates cultural competency
2. In depth knowledge of educational terminology, theory and methodology
3. Ability to conceptualize, define, design, construct and evaluate training programs and material
4. Proficiency working with operations managers and staff in the areas of training and development
5. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
6. Ability to produce results collectively as a team or on a committee
7. Basic computer knowledge with skills or programs relevant to the position
8. Ability to maintain accurate records
9. Analytical and oral/written communication skills including ability to write clear and effective correspondence, reports, evaluations, training manuals and other materials
10. Demonstrated ability to display initiative and resourcefulness
11. Flexibility to train on multiple subjects
12. Knowledge of related federal and state laws, and university policies and procedures
13. Knowledge of union contracts
Monday - Friday; 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Functional ExpectationsMust be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation:
