The Director, Institutional Reporting works under the direction of the Executive Director of Institutional Research to identify and meet data reporting needs within the college. The Director is responsible for coordinating and managing RCSJ’s reporting to external constituencies including mandated reporting to government agencies and consortium-based organizations and programs for both Cumberland and Gloucester Campuses. The Director will oversee and guide the institutional reporting work of Institutional Research Analysts for the College. Travel will be required, as this position will work on both the Gloucester and Cumberland Campuses.Examples of Duties
Provides leadership for planning and coordinating the Colleges reporting to external constituencies, including mandated reporting to government agencies (State and Federal) and consortium-based organizations and programs for both Cumberland and Gloucester campuses.Oversees the college's data warehouse program as it relates to overall data quality and completeness, data sources, and metadata quality and completeness. Establishes and ensures adherence to a set of guiding principles for the data warehouse. Liaisons with key IT partners in support of performance and functionality of data warehouse systems. Develops methods and procedures to project student enrollment and support on-going enrollment management activities.Serves on appropriate college committees such as the Institutional Effectiveness Committee.Works within the administrative data system Ellucian (Banner)® regarding the development and functionality of data and demographic information related to data collection and reporting needs.Coordinates and collaborates on the preparation of research publications such as the fact book and enrollment reports.Works within the college’s data warehouse system regarding the development, functionality, and validity of reports published in variety of formats. Analyzes and interprets data to produce reports, fact sheets, graphic presentations, and summaries.Receives and responds to data requests from faculty, administrators and staff.Attends meetings and/or makes presentations, as required, on behalf of the IR Office and/or Executive Director.Represents the College at external meetings, as assigned.Performs other duties, as assigned.Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data processing, research methods, or a related field required. Master’s degree in field preferred.Post-graduate coursework in data science or data analysis required.Minimum of five (5) years of related research and/or analysis experience required. Knowledge of a relational database design and management and expertise in a major database package (i.e. MS Access, SQL Server)Experience writing complex queries using structured query language (SQL) required;Experience with statistical software (i.e. SPSS, SAS, R) preferred;Ellucian (Banner) experience preferred;Ability to travel between multiple campus locations, utilizing personal vehiclePossess the ability to work well and communicate effectively with prospective and current students, staff, faculty, administration, and colleagues and community partners in large and small settings. Demonstrated cultural competence, sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff and a commitment to a student-centered environment.
