The Dean serves as the key liaison and College spokesperson for the School and provides strong leadership for Global Business, Trade and Transportation through: strategic planning, program development, review and revision, resource development, innovation, faculty development and cross-disciplinary collaboration. The Dean has a strong external focus, which includes establishing and fostering connections with external entities related to Global Business, Trade and Transportation. The position advances strategic enrollment, student success, college completion, job placement and ensures a successful transfer experience. This is a Professional Exempt Contractual (PEC) position for which an annual contract reflecting the base salary within the fiscal year (July 1st to June 30th) will be issued after ratification by Miami Dade College’s District Board of Trustees.

•Represents the college and serves as the key spokesperson for Global Business, Trade and Transportation to the external community, including but not limited to, national, international, regional, and local entities
•Initiates strategic planning for Global Business, Trade and Transportation and establishes key performance indicators for success; meets or exceeds targets and ensures alignment with college-wide priorities
•Actively collaborates with Campus Presidents, Deans of the Faculty and Deans of Faculty and Student Services to develop and implement strategic enrollment management initiatives; meets or exceeds performance targets for student recruitment, enrollment, completion, and job placement in programs associated with Global Business, Trade and Transportation
•Collaborates with the Deans of Faculty in the initiation, cross-disciplinary innovation, program development, review, and close-out (as appropriate); ensures program relevancy
•Pursues and establishes new relationships with business and industry, educational institutions, governmental agencies, and potential donors that result in resource support for workforce development programs that meet the needs of current and emerging employers
•Creates and secures partnerships that meet or exceed established target goals related to increasing the number of paid student internships, grant awards, and other resources for Global Business, Trade and Transportation
•Leads the strategic advancement of the unit’s internal and external reporting structures, including annual effectiveness reports, discipline action plans, accreditation reports, grant reports and strategic enrollment management plans, in consultation with the members of the College’s executive leadership team to ensure alignment with college-wide priorities
•Provides leadership and supervises Program Coordinators, Community of Interest (COI) Coordinators, Grant funded personnel, and other staff as appropriate
•Collaborates with the Deans of Faculty to ensure availability of professional development for full-time and adjunct faculty in Global Business, Trade and Transportation so they can remain current in both industry and pedagogical trends
•Develops classroom resources for use by adjunct faculty, in conjunction with the Deans of Faculty, Department Chairs and full-time faculty
•Serves as MDC’s primary liaison and steers the School Advisory Committee by presenting business research data and making recommendations to recruit community business member participants; thus, ensuring that programs respond to community needs
•Performs other duties as assigned

•Doctorate degree in Business or related field and six (6) years of senior level experience in higher education; or Master's degree in Business Administration or related field and seven (7) years of progressive and successful leadership in the private or public sector
•All degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution
•Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives and policies and procedures
•Knowledge of college educational philosophy and top management administrative practices and procedures
•Knowledge of college curricula and instructional programs
•Knowledge of workforce and academic trends in business, transportation and logistics
•Knowledge of regional and program-specific accreditation requirements, processes and criteria
•Knowledge of the goals, objectives, structure and operations of major college institutions
•Knowledge and skill in effective communication utilizing public relations principles and practices
•Knowledge of technological systems as they apply to instructional, administrative, and workplace needs
•Strategic planning skills to effect change in a multi-cultural environment
•Skill in employee development and performance management
•Strong leadership skills that promote dedication, creativity, innovation and growth
•Ability to develop and interpret financial data/plans and manage resources
•Ability to think, reason, and make sound judgments on how responsibilities are completed in compliance with college standards and guidelines
