General Summary

Dietetics and Human Nutrition (HN) Program Graduate Assistant Position

The department of Dietetics and Human Nutrition currently has a GA position that will work mostly under the supervision of our Program Co-Directors. The Program Co-Directors, faculty members, and Clinical Coordinator require support that this GA could fulfill.
Examples of activities that would support the Program Directors include:
• Assisting with January application organization and support,
• Collection and analysis of program data,
• Assistance in compiling documents needed for accreditation,
• Reviewing/updating program documents such as the Preceptor Handbook, Orientation materials, Student Handbook, and training modules for students,
• Increasing our use of technology (e.g., converting program documents to electronic storage)
Examples of activities to support faculty include:
• Literature searches,
• Proctoring exams,
• Guest lecturing,
• Grading of assignments in undergraduate courses,
• Assisting with the preparation of professional presentation materials,
• Data entry and analysis,
• Assistance in conducting research,
• Grant and manuscript writing
• Support of ENS (Eagle Nutrition Services) if required (if GA is RDN, potential for RDN-required duties if needs are great or if supervising or GA RDN is sick or away; if non-RDN, may support with non-RDN assistance if needed)

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Not only does the department benefit by the support of this GA position, but the GA gains valuable experience and skill development. Many of the tasks assigned to this GA position will prepare the student for his/her future career.

This GA position would be supervised by the Program Co-Directors and would fall under the “Teaching and Research and Staff Graduate Assistant” categories.

For a full-time GA appointment, the University provides a tuition scholarship for up to 18 credit hours in each academic year (September 1 to August 31) of the assistantship.

For graduate assistants who are appointed to part-time positions and for GAs who begin employment after the start of the semester, the number of credit hours covered by the award will be prorated.

The report also contains information about crime statistics for the three most recent calendar years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus; in On-Campus Student Housing Facilities; in Noncampus buildings or property owned or controlled by the University or a recognized student organization; and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from, the campus. The report also contains fire statistics for any fires occurring in an On-Campus Student Housing Facility during the three most recent calendar years.
