Job Description:

The Business Administration department at Mills College is pleased to announce an opportunity for an instructor to teach a 1-credit summer course in Budgeting during the summer 2021 term. Our business degree programs are distinguished by their focus on equity and justice, by the rich diversity of backgrounds and experiences our students bring, and by our small size which fosters a sense of community among students, faculty, and staff.

The person in this position would teach:
MGMT 280L Budgeting. This 1-credit course is an elective for MBA students and students in our joint MPP/MBA and MBA/MA in Educational Leadership programs and is open to graduate students from other programs. This course is scheduled for Tuesday evenings from 6--9pm on 5/25, 6/1, 6/15, and 6/22. Summer courses will be delivered online and it is expected that course delivery will be primarily synchronous at the time slot scheduled for the course.

Course Description:
This course covers the budgeting process from start to finish, including how to create a disciplined culture of budgeting in your organization, the various methods for building budgets, and techniques to analyze budget-to-actual results. The course will also focus on using budgeting as a management tool to achieve your organization's strategic goals.

Compensation:
Compensation for a summer one-credit course is $2,500 if 10 or more students are enrolled and $250/student if fewer than 10 students are enrolled. Adjunct compensation is governed by a Collective Bargaining Agreement and increases with seniority at Mills College.


Requirements:

Minimum qualifications are a Master's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field. We welcome applications from practitioners with substantial professional experience in budgeting for social impact-oriented organizations. Higher education teaching experience is desirable but not required.


Additional Information:

This is an exempt, part-time position. The compensation includes state-mandated benefits including Social Security, State Disability Insurance, Workers' Compensation Insurance, Unemployment Insurance and Sick Day accrual. Employees also receive free admission to campus events, use of the pool, fitness center, and tennis courts.
