General Description

College of the Sequoias is seeking a candidate to fill a one-year, full-time, non-tenured position in the Physics Department beginning August 2021.

College of the Sequoias Community College District serves a diverse community of learners and is a designated Hispanic Serving Institution. COS provides a wide range of opportunities in transfer, general education, career and technical programs for our students. We are dedicated to recruiting faculty who are committed to helping a diverse population of students achieve their educational goals. We seek candidates who exhibit an understanding and commitment to the community college mission, and who have a passion for student success.

The Nature of a 1-Year, Full-Time, Temporary Faculty Appointment

A one-year, full-time faculty position provides full salary and benefits for one academic year. There is no continuation of the temporary position. If a full-time, tenure-track faculty position was approved by the District at a future date, the faculty member who filled the one-year position would go through the application and interview process as any other candidate. If selected for the position, the one year of service provided by the one-year faculty member would count towards placement on the salary schedule, seniority lists, and years of service for retirement purposes. There is no guarantee that a tenure-track position will be available at the end of the one-year, temporary position.

COMMITMENT TO EQUITY:

Sequoias Community College District values the ability to serve students from a broad range of cultural heritages, socioeconomic backgrounds, abilities, genders, gender identities, and orientations. The District prioritizes applicants who demonstrate they understand the benefits a diverse student population brings to a community college and seeks faculty members who are equity-minded, collegial, committed to helping all students achieve their educational goals, and value mentorship. Ideal candidates will share the Sequoias Community College District's commitment to student-centered pedagogy and to creating inclusive learning experiences that will benefit our racially and socioeconomically diverse student population.
