Description Required education and experience:
Dr. Gabriel Tajeu in the Department of Health Services Administration and Policy is accepting applications for a Part-Time Research Assistant. Applicants should be interested in learning about and engaging in research focused on chronic cardiovascular disease (i.e., hypertension, diabetes). A background in machine learning is required for this position. Students will gain skills in reviewing scientific literature, conducting research, gaining experience in academic writing related to these topics, and creating predictive machine learning models using electronic health record data. This position is paid hourly. Once weekly meetings will be held via Zoom meeting. The position is part-time and flexible with 7-10 hours per week. Batchelor’s degree in a related field. Required Skills and Abilities:
* A background in machine learning is required.*Demonstrated ability to operate all standard office equipment and software including MS Office.*Demonstrated ability to use Python to preprocess data and develop prediction models. *Demonstrated ability to conduct research fact finding searches, including Internet and scholarly literature searches. *Excellent written and oral communication skills.*Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with diverse populations of students, faculty, staff, and clinicians. *Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and planning. *Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team environment.*Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to function as a member of a multidisciplinary research team.
