The University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa (UH Mānoa), the flagship university for the state of Hawaiʻi and a university that consistently ranks among the top 1.5% of higher education institutions in the world, is accepting inquiries, nominations and applications for the position of Vice Provost for Enrollment Management (VPEM).

A member of a 10-campus university system, UH Mānoa is a premier, student-centered, Carnegie Research 1, community-serving university grounded in a Native Hawaiian place of learning that summons its rich knowledge systems to help mālama (care for) Hawaiʻi and the world for future generations. It is a Truth, Racial Healing & Transformation Campus Center, one of only a handful of land-, sea-, space- and sun-grant institutions and consistently ranked a "best value" among U.S. colleges and universities. Through nearly 250 degree programs offered by 15 colleges and schools, UH Mānoa provides over 18,000 students with a transformational educational environment. UH Mānoa is where students and faculty come from across the globe to take advantage of the institution's unique research opportunities, nationally ranked Division I athletics program and a commitment to being the leading indigenous-serving university in the country.

It is an exciting time for enrollment management at UH Mānoa. Over the last five years, applications for first-time freshmen have increased 79%, as significant investment and attention have been devoted to accelerating momentum in student recruitment. Additionally, the campus is undergoing an administrative reorganization, which will create a new Office of Enrollment Management separate from its current location under the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Students. The Vice Provost for Enrollment Management will report to Provost Michael Bruno, and will be a senior campus leader, providing executive leadership, vision and direction in all areas related to enrollment management, from student recruitment to graduation. The VPEM oversees Admissions, the Registrar and Financial Aid Services, and partners with the Provost, Vice Provosts, academic deans, chairs, faculty and other campus leaders to build a comprehensive strategic plan to increase enrollment across the undergraduate and graduate programs through recruitment, yield and retention strategies for targeted populations.

The successful candidate will be an experienced enrollment manager who possesses the vision, creativity and knowledge of best practices and emerging technology to achieve and maintain UH Mānoa's optimal enrollment. The new VPEM will be a relationship-builder who listens, inspires and establishes trust and cooperative partnerships across a decentralized university and with external constituents who may influence a student's decision on where to attend college. It will be important for the new leader to have strong analytical abilities and an aptitude for enhancing systems and processes to shape strategic direction; raise the institution's profile locally, across the nation and throughout the world; and meet enrollment goals. An appreciation of Hawaiʻi's diverse population and unique culture as well as a commitment to UH Mānoa's kulelana (responsibility and purpose) to serve the people and places of Hawaiʻi, the Pacific and Asia are essential for success.

All applications, nominations and inquiries are invited. Applications should include, as separate documents, a CV or resume and a letter of interest addressing the themes in the leadership profile, found here. WittKieffer is assisting University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa in this search. For fullest consideration, candidate materials should be received by April 5, 2021. Application materials should be submitted using WittKieffer’s candidate portal. Nominations and inquiries can be directed to:
