We have highly skilled and creative faculty who incorporate the latest teaching approaches and technology into their instructional delivery. Our faculty work closely with students inside and outside of the classroom to help them maximize their success. Faculty serve as advisors to student clubs such as Women in Cybersecurity (WiCys), Cyber Hawks Cybersecurity Club, and our award winning Talons Robotics Team. Technology department faculty are also highly engaged in STEM grant projects and scholarship programs sponsored by the National Science Foundation and Maryland State Department of Education, in partnership with the public-school systems and local military bases. Our technology faculty are also instrumental in building partnership agreements with 4-year colleges. Many of the technology faculty participate in conferences such The League for Innovation in the Community College, 3CS Community College Cyber Summit, NICE Conference, Cyber Maryland, and SIGCSE Technical Symposium.

Our faculty teach a range of face-to-face, online, hybrid and/or blended and hy-flex classes using Open Educational Resources (OERs) and current instructional technology tools. Using both a synchronous and asynchronous modes of instructional delivery, our faculty focus on student engagement and success through critical thinking, analytical and hands-on approaches. CSM faculty are expected to be knowledgeable of learning management systems in addition to face-to-face and innovative technology based instructional delivery approaches. As such, we are seeking an innovative educator to join our Cloud and Information Technology faculty. Cloud and Information Technology faculty are able to teach all courses offered at the 100 and 200 undergraduate level, including Introduction to Cloud Computing, Cloud Infrastructure and Services, Windows Server, Local Area Networking, Linux, and Program Design and Development.

This position does not require physical residence in the Southern Maryland area, thereby offering the faculty member the opportunity to work remotely. The remote faculty member must reside in one of the following states: Maryland, or DC, Virginia, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, or West Virginia. A minimum of two campus visits per year are required if the faculty member lives outside of a 60 mile radius. A nominal stipend may be available to cover travel expenses. Although this is a limited time, renewable contract, the faculty member will perform all the expected duties of a full-time faculty member, including fulfilling the expectations for professional development and professional service as described in the Faculty Handbook.

If the faculty member lives within a 60 mile radius of the college, they will be expected to be physically present on campus for in-person teaching assignments, meetings, or other college activities.

The Cloud and Information Technology faculty member will be expected to teach freshman and sophomore level classes in cloud computing as well as other information technology courses. The successful faculty member will teach 15 credit hours per semester and 30 credit hours per academic year of day, evening or weekend classes. Flexibility is required to work in this position as teaching assignments may vary from semester to semester. There may be an opportunity to teach classes in the summer also. CSM faculty may be assigned to teach on the La Plata campus, online, or any campus or center where CSM offers classes. The remote faculty member will teach all assigned classes online. The faculty member hired in this position is responsible for the coordination, planning, preparation, presentation, and evaluation of classroom instruction and related activities to promote student-centered learning and success. At a minimum, the related activities include instruction, holding office hours, serving on various committees, and demonstrating a commitment to professional development thorough participating in local, state, regional, and national professional activities and organizations.

Specific Duties and ResponsibilitiesEngage students in the course through innovative assignments and creative approaches to learning, following the discipline approved syllabus.Teach 30 credits of courses per contract year in the Cloud computing and Information Technology disciplineTeach a range of courses that may include morning, day, evening, weekend or online, in an accelerated format. Knowledge and experience with AWS and exposure to Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud or other similar platforms including on premise virtualization technologies, Required

AWS Cloud practitioner or equivalent certification, PreferredCandidate must be on track or able to obtain an AWS Solutions Architect level certification within 1 year upon hiring.Ability to use word processing, basic internet applications, and basic database navigation.Experience working with diverse student populations preferred.Ability to use an educational enterprise, learning management system such as D2L Brightspace to support and facilitate instructional delivery.Ability to teach in a variety of modalities, including online instruction.
