The University of Maine at Presque Isle is seeking a full-time, tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor of Psychology beginning September 1, 2021.

Full-time teaching responsibilities will be in the area of psychology at the bachelor level. Courses may include abnormal psychology, research methods, physiological psychology and psychopharmacology, as well as courses in the applicant’s areas of personal expertise or interest. Other responsibilities include advising undergraduate students, campus and professional service, and development of undergraduate research. We are looking for an exceptional educator with the ability, energy, and intellectual charisma to be a first-rate teacher and active professional.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Teach four courses per semester at introductory and upper levels using both in-person and asynchronous online approaches

Provide service to campus as well as professional service as appropriate

Develop research opportunities that will engage undergraduates and my lead to clinical experience, independent studies, senior theses, or other experiential learning, and may contribute to conference presentations, publications, or extramural funding

Based on the qualifications and experience of the successful applicant, the salary range for an Assistant Professor is in the mid $50's and for an Associate Professor in the mid to high $60's plus a 10% employer contribution to the UMS retirement plan. Additional benefits include medical, dental, vision, and tuition waiver programs for employees and dependents. KNOWLEDGE & SKILL QUALIFICATIONS:

Doctoral Degree required in Clinical/Counseling psychology or Neuroscience at the time of hire, preferably from an APA or CPA accredited program..

If applicant is a Clinical or Counseling Psychologist they should be licensed or eligible for licensure as a clinician in Maine

Strong expertise and demonstrated success in teaching introductory and upper-level psychology courses

Effective oral and written communication skills, and ability to collaborate with the campus, local communities

Demonstrated experience or ability to employ high impact teaching practices and technology that qualitatively improves the learning experience, including on-line teaching methods.

Ability to travel normally requiring a valid driver’s license.

 

PREFERRED:

Background in Neuroscience research
