ASDOH - Dental Assistant - Lead

A.T. Still University's Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health (ATSU-ASDOH) is seeking applications for a lead dental assistant on the Mesa, Arizona campus. This position reports to the Dispensary Manager, with Director of Clinic Operations and Associate Dean indirectly. The lead dental assistant independently performs a variety of tasks including but not limited to supervising Dental Assistants, maintaining/ordering inventory, and maintaining reports.

Lead Dental Assistant must be properly trained to provide chairside assistance for the Residents/Faculty when needed; enforce all OSHA/HIPAA/ Infection Control rules and regulations and make sure that they are followed by staff, faculty and residents; be proficient in all areas: scanning of documents, burning CD’s and training of other Dental Assistants (DAs) when needed.

Job Duties:

• Assist with supervision of dental assistants, daily assigning of assistants to residents (shared with other Lead DA)
• Maintain and stock supplies/inventory for the clinic floor to have efficiency
• Maintain Logs of placed implants
• Maintain organization and cleanliness of facility
• Assist Residents/Faculty, Sterilization and Management of Instruments

• Maintain Reports, monthly maintenance/cleaning chart

• Address team of assistants in DA meetings

• Have a plan to keep DAs from being idle on clinic floor

• Holding DAs accountable to the staff handbook

• Assign DAs to roles such as wet lab, sterilization, etc.

• Provide input for hiring and reviews
• Provide feedback on supply usage/inventory
• Continuing education course attendance
• CPR/BLS certification current
• Other duties as assigned

Skills/Requirements:

• Sterilization, OSHA Standards, HIPAA regulations, suction lines, traps, DUWL
• Basic chairside assisting skills
• RHS & CPR Certification
• Significant computer experience
• Basic First Aid , BLS, and AED training for Healthcare Providers
• Xray & CPR certification
