This is a position for a junior research technician in the Paralkar Lab, a basic science biology lab at the University of Pennsylvania that studies hematopoiesis (blood cell development) and leukemia (blood cancer) in humans and mice. Our work utilizes a variety of techniques including cell lines, mouse models, human leukemia cells, RNA and ChIP-sequencing, and CRISPR-based studies to dissect the mechanisms by which transcription factors and chromatin proteins regulate gene expression in normal and malignant hematopoiesis. We are looking for a full-time junior technician interested in starting work in spring/summer 2021. The ideal applicant for this position will be a college graduate, passionate about science, interested in cultivating cutting-edge research skills, and aiming to pursue a PhD in the future. Applicant must have at least a brief experience working in a molecular biology lab in the past. Experience with flowcytometry and mouse research is a plus, but is not required.
Plans and conducts basic experiments to meet research project objectives, with close supervision. Assists in performing laboratory experiments and clinical studies for product or material formulation and development. Daily management of laboratory tool, documentations and processes to ensure regulatory compliance and timely completion of project/program deliverables. Closely collaborates with Senior Research Specialists and Principal Investigator (PI) on experimental/clinical work set ups in accordance to established protocols.
Bachelor's Degree with 0-1 year of related experience in research methodologies or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
