Position Summary:
The Director of Employment Services is responsible for developing and implementing inclusive recruitment and retention strategies for faculty and staff. Key aspects of this role include analyzing information and implementing improvements in workforce planning, recruitment, retention and employment policies, procedures and practices. This role also leads the student employment process with the express goal of helping to meet the labor needs of the campus community while providing a meaningful experience for students to help prepare them for a successful transition to life, work and a career after graduation.

Essential Functions
  • Develop and implement inclusive recruitment and retention strategies for faculty, staff and student workers.
  • Create a robust infrastructure to support recruitment and retention strategies, which includes policies, procedures, reference materials and regular training for key stakeholders.
  • Analyze workforce metrics to recognize success and drive performance improvement. Set and implement recruitment goals to ensure recruitment strategies align with the institutional strategic plan.
  • Partner with the Chief Inclusion & Diversity Officer in the development of inclusive recruitment and retention practices.
  • Partner with the Career Development Center, Student Financial Services, and HR staff to integrate all aspects of student employment into one comprehensive program.
  • Ensure accurate records, reports and other written materials related to employment are updated regularly and shared with key stakeholders.
  • Ensure employment policies and procedures are compliant with applicable laws, regulations and institutional strategies.
  • Lead annual employee engagement survey, communication and training.
  • Provide leadership and supervision to the HR Assistant and HR Student Employee who support recruitment and retention work.
  • Partner with the Director of Compensation & Benefits in communicating our employment value proposition to faculty, staff and applicants.
  • Serve as a back-up for Director of Compensation & Benefits and VP of Human Resources as needed.


    Required Qualifications:
    Education
    Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field: Industrial Relations or Psychology, Business Administration or Management with HR course work is required.

    Experience
    Five years of human resources or related experience with a minimum of three years of leadership experience required.

Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills with varied and diverse constituencies. Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service including active listening, customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction. Strong time management skills, with ability to set priorities.

    Physical Demand
    Position requires the ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time. Position requires the ability to move about the campus. Must be able to travel long distances if needed, by airplane and by automobile. Position requires the ability to talk and to hear instruction. Position requires occasional manual dexterity and the ability to use fingers, hands, and arms to feel, handle, and reach. Position requires occasional stooping, crouching and bending. Position requires the ability to occasionally lift up to 10 pounds. Working conditions are indoor.
