Position Summary:
Installs, repairs and maintains plumbing, heating and electromechanical systems on campus buildings and facilities.


Essential Functions:

Performs maintenance and repair of various facilities as indicated on daily work orders (plumbing and HVAC).
Orders materials needed to complete jobs.
Lays out and installs plumbing to comply with plumbing codes.
Performs testing procedures to troubleshoot electromechanical systems on campus building equipment.
Repairs and maintains laundry equipment.
Assists with installation, maintenance and repair of refrigerators, freezers, air conditioning systems and propane fueled equipment.
Maintains fire protection equipment.
Maintains records of time, materials, etc. involved with each job.
Installs and/or renovates plumbing and HVAC systems if necessary.
Performs associated Facilities Services maintenance work as requested, including, but not limited to: snow removal, event set-up and clean-up, truck loading and unloading, grounds maintenance.
*Works cooperatively with others and accepts direction from supervisors.
*Performs all duties in a safe and professional manner and in accordance with Middlebury College and departmental policies and procedures.


General Responsibilities:
Performs other duties as assigned to assist the department in obtaining and maintaining its mission.


Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required. License or ability to obtain in propane levels 1,4,6,7, Oil heat silver technical training or ability to obtain. Must be a licensed Master Plumber.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of refrigeration, propane and electrical systems preferred.
Must have knowledge, experience or interest in pursuing further training in refrigeration, propane, and/or electricity. Must be available for emergency maintenance calls on evenings and weekends according to rotational schedule. Must be available for flexible shifts and overtime as required. Ability to work Saturdays and Sundays as part of regular or rotating work shift. Must have driver’s license and vehicle for transportation of self, tools and for procuring small materials. Furnishes own hand tools for plumbing/mechanical work. Other than on-call weekends, shift schedule is 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. (This schedule is subject to change).


Experience:
A minimum of 4 years of progressively complex experience in Plumbing trade is required; 10 years is preferred.
