The University of Pikeville in Pikeville, Kentucky seeks a dynamic and creative faculty leading and teaching in a newly developed Bachelor of Science in Information Technology Management. The successful candidate will have strong systems administration skills and a and a background in networking, databases, scripting, and/or engineering. The finalist should also possess skills at building a curriculum that is responsive to industry trends and focused on student learning and career success. Applicants must have a strong commitment to teaching in a university setting and the ability to work effectively with others in a collegial environment dedicated to student learning.

Responsibilities:

  1. Create and maintain an environment that is conducive to innovative teaching and active learning.
  2. Emphasize broadly trained skills and a strong passion for excellence in teaching, service, and scholarship.
  3. Develop, communicate, and fulfill effective course learning outcomes.
  4. Develop new courses utilizing no-cost course materials and Open Educational Resources (OERs).
  5. Compose and publish syllabi containing the items listed in the approved syllabus rubric.
  6. Teaching courses for both majors and non-majors.
  7. Teach foundational courses in the curriculum and provide additional upper-division coursework in their specialty.
  8. Advising students, providing service to the University community, assisting with divisional activities, and continuing scholarly growth and development.
  9. Ability to instruct classes using face-to-face, hybrid, and fully online modalities.
  10. Establish mutual respect with students through effective and timely communication including expectations, deadlines, and feedback on work completed.
  11. Maintain good working relationships with faculty and administration in all academic and non-academic sectors.
  12. Communicate effectively with constituents within the University, surrounding community, and State regarding the University.
  13. Utilize the Learning Management System (LMS) to support classroom instruction.

Education/Sill Requirements:

  • A PhD and undergraduate teaching experience are desired; applicants with a master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in information technology or related field and significant work experience are also encouraged to apply.
  • Minimum required English language skills are at the C1 level based on the Common European Language Framework.
  • Applicants with ABD status and within one year of completion will also be considered.

Relationships:

Position requires daily contact with co-workers, supervisor, students, faculty, and staff in order to disseminate necessary information and coordinate for daily operations. These relationships are maintained through person-to-person contact, phone, e-mail, and fax.

Annual Cost

  • Undergraduate: $17,750 for tuition, $7,000 for room/board, and $1,250 for textbooks.
  • First Professional: $34,950 for tuition (provides for required textbooks, lab equipment, laptop computer, portable OP&P table, stethoscope, otoscope, lab coats and scrub suits).

Campus Organizations
There are 34 campus clubs and groups including academic, service and leadership societies in which students can become involved.

Athletics
NAIA Division I, Region XI, Mid-South Conference. Sports include football, men's and women's basketball, baseball, men's and women's bowling, men's and women's golf, men's and women's bowling, men's and women's tennis, softball, men's and women's cross-country, men's and women's track and field, volleyball, women's lacrosse, and men's and women's soccer.

Campus Facilities
The facilities are constantly being updated as the University grows and changes. Recent renovations included the Wickham dormatory, the UPike South Housing Facility, and the most exciting project is the recently completed Coal Building. The nine-story structure was constructed alongside the college's historic 99 steps. The new facility will includes two lecture halls, a gross anatomy lab, two research labs, offices, small group classrooms and student study space. Also, a clinical skills training and evaluation center houses 12 specially-equipped examination rooms and serve as training and testing centers for students in programs using standardized patients and high-fidelity robotic patient simulators. Students in the Elizabeth Akers Elliott Nursing Program will also be able to utilize the space for similar training. The expanded osteopathic manipulative medicine lab and clinic provides learning opportunities, as well as housing KYCOM's free community clinic.
