Summary of Job Duties and Responsibilities:There is flexibility in this position for either a crop or soil scientist. The successful candidate will be expected to teach a course load of 12 hours/semester including courses such as Soil Science, Crop Science, Soil and Water Engineering, Integrated Pest Management, Soil Health, etc. based on the expertise (plant or soil science) of the candidate. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in agronomy and develop new courses that will enhance the current Agronomy curriculum. Public service and research activities, student advising, preparing student teams for competition, advising agronomy club develop a positive rapport with regional agronomy firms required. Participates in research and scholarly activities, service on committees; support quality graduate program, and HSOA. The successful applicant will be intricately involved with university research farms as well as industry collaborations.
Minimum Education Requirements:Ph.D. in Agronomy or related field required. Applicants with all but dissertation (ABD) with a documented plan of completion by December 2021 will be considered.
Minimum Experience and Skill Requirements:Documented successful teaching experience required.
Preferred Education and/or Experience Qualifications:Preference will be given to applicants who have experience in and knowledge concerning cropping systems including corn, soybeans, tobacco, hemp, wheat, and/or precision agriculture.
