Overview:

The computer science department is seeking candidates with interest and experience in teaching introductory and intermediate computer science courses for a full-time, temporary, benefited, faculty position. After the initial year, renewal is possible twice more for a possible total of three years, contingent upon job performance and funding. The successful candidate will demonstrate a clear vision of the future of the computing field in general and the computer science discipline in particular; show evidence of a commitment to the teaching-learning process in a four-year undergraduate program; and possess strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Candidates are required to perform duties in accordance with the MSCA contract. Duties include teaching, advising, and contributions to continuously improve the department and university. The standard teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester. The position is subject to available funding.

Required Qualifications:

A master's degree (or ABD with significant dissertation progress) in computer science or a closely-related field; experience in teaching introductory and/or intermediate and advanced computer science courses; fluency in both object-oriented and procedural programming paradigms; thorough knowledge of Java and at least one other programming language; and experience applying the latest computing technologies and innovative approaches to teaching.

Preferred Qualifications:

An earned PhD in computer science strongly preferred; experience in teaching upper-level computer science courses; professional applied experience in computer science in general and software development in particular; current teaching experience; familiarity and experience with teaching information technology courses; industry experience and/or research record in one or more of the following areas: software engineering, computer networks, cloud computing, cyber security; demonstrated ability and willingness to apply innovative approaches and the latest computing technologies to teaching; and experience in and a commitment to teaching in a multicultural, multiracial environment with students of diverse backgrounds and learning styles. Have skills to perform some basic AWS user account administration tasks.
