Faculty Support Specialist - Faculty Services

Position Summary:

The faculty support specialist is responsible for the key faculty coordination activities, including scheduling assigned instructors to courses, assisting faculty with resolving problems, and processing adjunct instructor payroll. The faculty support specialist will periodically review instructor’s activity to ensure that expectations set by the schools for instructing the course are met.

Reporting Relationships:

Reports to the Coordinator, Faculty Services

Education Requirements:

Associate degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred

Duties and Responsibilities:

    Identify courses in need of faculty, send offers and confirmations to adjunct instructors
    Locate substitute or replacement instructors as needed
    Ensure faculty have the correct materials-order and follow-up
    Provide pre-determined resources at the time of scheduling
    Review faculty course schedules to comply with ACA guidelines regularly
    Assign position codes
    Assign mentors for new hires or to experienced faculty that are teaching in a format for the first time.
  • Enter adjunct pay for courses assigned
Review available data to support the systematic review of faculty effectiveness. Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Experience

    Experience in higher education preferred
    Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures

Required Skills

  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to set and reset priorities in a fast-paced, multi-task work environment
  • Ability to attend to details with a high level of accuracy
  • Sensitivity for managing confidential information
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Intermediate to Advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Access, and Excel
  • Experience working within a database environment helpful, but not required.
  • Ability to identify inefficiencies or issues and propose solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to work both collaboratively and independently
