Description:This position is a 10-month faculty position with administrative responsibilities. Faculty will receive course release and stipends for their administrative duties, congruent with College procedures. Faculty are evaluated in four areas: teaching, scholarship, student engagement, and service. The Faculty will teach in the Health Science discipline and will be the Practicum Coordinator for the Patient Navigation Concentration. The duties shall include, but not limited to, the following
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Teaching courses, academic advising, evidence-based instruction, student recruitment, and maintaining course-related required USG and Institutional Effectiveness (SACSCOC) documentation. Teaching responsibilities may include, but are limited to, Perspectives in Patient Navigation, Collaborative (and Advanced) Collaborative Care in Health Professions/Patient Navigation, and/or Legal and Ethical Issues in Healthcare Oversight of the practicum requirements for the Patient Navigation concentration in the Health Science program, including working with external partners to identify appropriate practicum placements and writing and implementing Memoranda of Understanding with partners that offer practicum placements and working with the appropriate offices to execute legal agreements with these partners. These include practicum sites local medical, governmental, nongovernmental, and community organizations involved in population health, health evaluation, health informatics, and related areas. Advising students in preparation for practicum and orienting students to the environment relevant to their course of study. Ensuring that students and site preceptors submit practicum progress reports, practicum evaluation/feedbacks and reflection sessions, in both on-line and face-to-face settings. Writing annual reports identifying practicum placements and reporting evaluation metrics. Evaluating the student placement process and experience and design and implement improvements for future practicum placements Salary Commensurate with education and experience with excellent benefits. Minimum and Preferred
- Master’s degree in Allied Health Science, or related discipline. 3 years of college teaching experience in diverse student populations, especially coursework in allied/clinical health programs with consistent excellence in evaluations of teaching, service and scholarship. Current or recent experience in the healthcare system with an understanding of the role of patient navigators, patient care representatives, and/or patient advocates in healthcare. Experience in the area of academic or other student advising, especially working with external entities to secure experiential learning opportunities.
