Duties & Responsibilities:

The Outreach Administrative Assistant will support theCareer Strategies and Community Outreach Manager in the coordination, promotionand execution of outreach events and communication efforts for the School ofJournalism. The incumbent will also produce promotional materials for outreachpurposes, including a magazine, newsletters, press releases and social mediacommunication.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and problem solve.
  • Good time management.
  • Ability to work effectively with others to accomplish goals.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent learning attained through experience required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience required.
  • Experience in journalism or journalism education.
  • Reporting and writing experience.
  • Experience posting stories and events on social media.
  • Experience producing a newsletter or magazine.
  • Experience with word processing, spreadsheet and database software (Microsoft Word, Excel).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in journalism or similar field
• At least two years of professional journalism experience
• Experience with InDesign and Photoshop for designing magazine and newsletter
• Experience working with undergraduate and graduate students
• Proficiency in English and Spanish
