General Summary

With the guidance of one or more staff or faculty members, perform a mixture of services in support of communication, technology, business operations or student affairs activities as more than 50% of their service.

The Staff Graduate Assistant receives a stipend and tuition waiver subject to federal tax.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

With the oversight of one or more staff members, provide career related assistance (intakes, resume reviews, mock interviews and general job search and career planning tips) to prospective, undergraduate and graduate students as well as alumni. In addition, provide assistance to career staff with job fair and event preparation, marketing and implementation.

Qualifications

Qualifications:
- Major in Higher Education and Student Affairs, Educational Leadership or College Counseling
- Able to recruit, train and supervise other graduate students for career walk-in advising is required
- Detail oriented and self motivated
- Organized and able to effectively manage time
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent customer service skills
- Knowledge of Career Development Theory is desirable.
- Familiarity with social networking is desirable
- Knowledge of campus community resources and referral options is desirable.
- Familiarity with marketing techniques and/or graphic design experience is desirable

Please note: This position is included in the Graduate Assistant Interview Day's (GAID) on March 11 and 12, 2021. You may be contacted by departments to schedule an interview with them individually. Graduate Assistant Interview Day allows candidates to select which departments they are interested to interview with (if they meet the qualifications). For a full-time GA appointment, the University provides a tuition scholarship for up to 18 credit hours in each academic year (September 1 to August 31) of the assistantship.

For graduate assistants who are appointed to part-time positions and for GAs who begin employment after the start of the semester, the number of credit hours covered by the award will be prorated.

The report contains information regarding campus safety and security including topics such as: campus law enforcement authority; crime reporting policies; campus alerts (Timely Warnings and Emergency Notifications); fire safety policies and procedures; programs to prevent dating violence, domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking; the procedures the University will follow when one of these crimes is reported; and other matters of importance related to security on campus. The report also contains information about crime statistics for the three most recent calendar years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus; in On-Campus Student Housing Facilities; in Noncampus buildings or property owned or controlled by the University or a recognized student organization; and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from, the campus. The report also contains fire statistics for any fires occurring in an On-Campus Student Housing Facility during the three most recent calendar years.
