The University of Maine School of Computing and Information Science (SCIS) (https://umaine.edu/scis/) seeks applicants for a teaching faculty position at the rank of lecturer, with an anticipated start date of August 30, 2021.

Essential duties and responsibilities. The successful candidate will be expected to be an effective and engaging teacher, to show a strong commitment to the development of new media design curricula, to advise and mentor undergraduates in pursuit of their academic and research goals, and to collaborate with colleagues to increase student success. The typical teaching assignment is three courses per semester at the undergraduate level. Substantial service to the School, College, and University is expected.

Qualifications. Documented successful college-level teaching is required. A Master or PhD in new media or a closely related discipline is required by date of hire. We are particularly interested in candidates who can teach a wide range of new media courses from the introductory to advanced undergraduate levels.

Preference will be given to those applicants with documented participation in activities promoting inclusive excellence. A record of effective involvement in academic advising and/or student recruitment is also preferred.

The School (https://umaine.edu/scis/) is an interdisciplinary unit encompassing Computer Science, Spatial Informatics, and New Media offering degrees in Computer Science (BS, BA, MS, PhD), Spatial Information Science and Engineering (MS, PhD), Information Systems (MS), and New Media (BA). This disciplinary breadth results in abundant opportunities for easy and exciting collaboration. The School currently has 20 full-time faculty members and enrolls approximately 350 undergraduate and 90 graduate students. The University of Maine is the flagship campus of the University of Maine System and is the principal graduate institution in the state. It is the state's land and sea grant university, enrolling over 11,000 students.
