Job Summary / Basic Function:

SUMMARY OF JOB DESCRIPTION: The Respiratory Care Program Faculty must demonstrate commitment to the mission of Lamar Institute of Technology to educate the minds and hearts of its students as well as support the goals of the Respiratory Care Program. This position is responsible for clinical and didactic instruction of students enrolled in the Respiratory Care Program. This is a non-tenure track full time position.

•Ensure instructional quality for the student as assessed by content mastery and competency-based skills. Create, modify, and implement Respiratory Care curriculum.
•Identify, collaborate, and evaluate clinical sites for student learning needs
•Maintain current and unrestricted licensure, level of expertise, and remain current in discipline changes via conferences, continuing education units, coursework, journals, etc.
•Ensure course syllabi clearly reflect expectations of the students, including new competencies identified through the systematic program evaluation.
•Effective written and oral communication with students on all information pertinent to student business, such as email or website course requirements, grade determination, testing, other assignments, and information regarding other departmental policies.
•Compile, administer, and grade course work in a timely manner. Inform students of course progression and must be able to develop personalized educational plans to promote student success.
•Maintain security of assigned equipment, classrooms, office, and all other teaching materials.
•Maintain HIPPA and FERPA standards.
•Provide information and/or data as needed for educational, funding, and/or accrediting agencies.
•Follow the procedures related to the Registrar’s Office such as grade reports and deadlines; attendance record reports; withdrawal deadline; class changes; and time and room scheduling.
•Follow Lamar Institute of Technology’s course, faculty, and student evaluation procedures.
•Substitute for colleagues when necessary.
•Follow the academic calendar as approved.
•Participate in institutional and departmental committees.
•Participate in assessment, implementation, and evaluation of Institutional Effectiveness measures.
•Participate in recruitment activities as assigned.
•Completes registration and prepare students for clinical sites.
•Provides clinical instruction, observation, and supervision of students.
•Performs imaging procedures.
•Supervises, coordinates and evaluates all clinical education for radiologic technology students in assigned areas.
•Prepares and maintains course outlines and objectives, instructs and evaluates students, and reports progress.
•Participates in the assessment process, when appropriate.
•Cooperates with the program director in periodic review and revision of course materials.
•Maintains appropriate expertise and competence through continuing professional development.
•Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Education Required: Associate degree in Respiratory Care.

Minimum Qualifications:
•Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).
•License for a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) issued by the Texas Department of Health (current and unencumbered).
•Four years of full time service in the field of Respiratory Care.
•Two years of full time service in Critical Care experience.
•American Heart Association (AHA) Healthcare Provider Certification.
•Meet all Joint Commission clinical requirements: Criminal background screening, Current immunizations, and Drug screening.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred Education: Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Care or related field

Preferred Qualifications or Skills:
•Two years’ experience teaching in a Respiratory Care program.
•Knowledge of Banner.
•Knowledge of Blackboard.
•Knowledge of LIT Respiratory Care program policies and procedures.
•Knowledge of the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care Education (CoARC) standards and curriculum.
