Job Details

Nazareth College of Rochester announces the opportunity to join a collegial team of department faculty who value contributions to the success of students and the department. The College and Department of Social Work invite applications for a full time, tenure track position to begin August 2021 with primary teaching responsibility in the Master of Social Work Program.

Located in the School of Health and Human Services with a focus on inter-professional collaboration, the Social Work Department provides a strong sense of community and includes over 200 undergraduate and graduate students. The mission of the Department of Social Work is “to educate ethical, competent social workers prepared for generalist practice. The program prepares students to engage in strengths-based practice, to advance human rights as well as social and economic justice and respect for diversity.”

The successful candidate will have the ability to teach across the graduate social work curriculum including generalist and advanced practice courses. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, advisement, curriculum development, participation in assessment, service to the Department and College, and maintaining an active scholarly agenda.

Applicants must possess an MSW from a CSWE accredited program and an earned doctoral degree (e.g., PhD, DSW, EdD); ABD will be considered.

Demonstrated commitment to anti-racism, social justice, and service to diverse populations including, but not limited to, race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, geographic location, ability status, and religious or spiritual affiliation. Please see the Nazareth College Statement of Diversity and Inclusion. Applicants must have previous teaching experience at the undergraduate and/or graduate level in social work. Two years post-MSW practice experience is required. Candidates must be eligible to obtain LMSW (minimum) in the state of New York and be able to teach generalist through advanced level practice courses. Demonstrated potential for the scholarship necessary for tenure is required. The candidate must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Expertise in disability, inclusion, and accessibility preferred. Applicants from traditionally underrepresented populations are strongly encouraged to apply. Commitment to equity and a history of effective work with diverse groups desired. Experience in curriculum development, developing and delivering hybrid or online courses, and the potential for social work leadership in the department and community are preferred.

Nazareth College, an independent, comprehensive institution with 2100 undergraduate and 800 graduate students, prepares graduates to live and work as leaders in diverse communities through a wide range of liberal arts and professional programs. Nazareth hires faculty who are committed to excellent teaching, student success, civic engagement, and who will champion diversity within the campus community and beyond. The College is located minutes from downtown Rochester, New York, a city noted for world-class cultural and entertainment offerings and a fast-growing innovation economy. Applications from candidates from diverse backgrounds are encouraged. EOE
