The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences invites applications and nominations for the position of Chair of the Department of History. The chair serves as (1) chief administrative officer of the department, calling and presiding at departmental meetings, supervising day-to-day activities, and coordinating with departmental staff (2) coordinator of all aspects of the academic program, such as degree requirements, curricular offerings, and faculty teaching assignments, (3) chief financial officer of the department, preparing budgets, supervising all receipts of money and expenditures, and working with the University of Florida Foundation (4) hiring authority for all searches for new faculty and staff members, (5) evaluator of faculty and staff performance and coordinator of merit pay decisions; (6) liaison to the office of the Dean of the College. Open only to current tenured members of departmental faculty. Salary and length of term are negotiable.
The position requires a Ph.D. and current appointment as tenured member of the departmental faculty.
