Job Description
The Comparative Orthopaedic Research Laboratory (Penn Vet CORL) has an opening for an Animal Care & Operating Room (AC & OR) Coordinator. The CORL translational research group is active in international and national collaborations with emphasis on orthopaedic device development and validation. CORL is a fully GLP compliant research facility with major emphasis regulatory preclinical trials.
The AC&OR Coordinator provides logistical support to the CORL lab and its surgical operations. Primary responsibilities include acting as lead circulating nurse during surgeries, maintenance and running of OR, assistance in peri-operative care of large animals, maintenance and care of surgical and laboratory equipment, data collection and management, and handling the diverse needs of the laboratory. A keen attention to detail, aptitude for organization, and positive attitude are
highly desirable in a candidate.
Administrative responsibilities: Maintenance of QAU SOPs; contribute to development of good documentation practices (GLP) and compliance training material; Maintenance of surgical supply and laboratory inventory. Monitor current grant budgets and activities. Daily & weekly maintenance of stocked surgical inventories and laboratory supplies in a GLP compliant manner. Care and maintenance of surgical and laboratory equipment as well as completion of relating documentation to ensure regulatory compliance. Large animal handling, assistance in peri-op care, OR circulating, personnel management, asepsis process. Regulatory Compliance: maintain compliance in accordance with CORL SOPs I 21 CFR part 58 (GLP) and IACUC protocols. Use of Imaging equipment (CT, fluoroscope), and use of image processing software. Data collection, management, and organization. Management and scheduling of research assistants. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
HS/GED and at least 1-2 years of experience in veterinary medicine, or equivalent combination of
education and experience is required.
This position is contingent upon grant funding.
