About This Position
The Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine, has an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Associate for research in ophthalmology. The Postdoctoral Associate performs bioinformatic, computational, and scientific research and studies under the supervision of the principal investigator, J. William Harbour, MD. Moreover, the Postdoctoral Associate promotes institutional recognition through contributions to the scientific literature.
The duties and responsibilities for this position may include, but are not limited to:
Conducts research on specific areas of study as assigned by supervisor, J. William Harbour, MD.
Prepares research reports and technical papers for publishing.
Investigates the feasibility of applying a wide variety of scientific principles and theories.
Maintains substantial knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories related to the areas of active research in the Harbour Lab.
Develops advanced analytical models and systems and provides solutions and analyses to support strategic and tactical decisions in the Harbour Lab.
Implements, maintains, and executes pipelines for genetic, genomic and phenotypic feature analyses.
Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
Ph.D. or M.D. in a related field of study. Proficiency in Python and/or R, and experience with Linux shell scripting. Skill in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data. Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of computational and/or scientific problems. Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.Strongly prefer the ability to work with other scientists and to transfer knowledge to other learners in the laboratory.
