About This Position
The John P. Hussman Institute for Human Genomics (HIHG) at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine, has an exciting career opportunity for a Systems Analyst. The Systems Analyst analyzes and resolves computer problems, tests and implements cost-effective solutions, and provides support for the efficient daily operation of data processing systems. Additionally, the incumbent reviews, analyzes, and modifies programming systems, including encoding, testing, debugging, and installing, in support of the University’s application systems. An employee in this position also consults with users to identify current operating procedures and clarify program objectives.
Specifically, the Systems Analyst will work on configuration and administration of Hussman Institute informatics systems, including but not limited to Genologics and Nautilus LIMS, as well as developing, maintaining, and creating other genomics/biomedical software and applications.
Bachelor's Degree in a closely related field of study with at least three years of relevant experience to include experience with databases; Oracle strongly preferred (SQL, PL/SQL), experience developing frontends (java script, html, jsp, etc), experience with establishing connections between multiple databases and/or data storage mediums using API connections, experience developing and deploying applications, and experience developing software applications. Strongly prefer fluency in Python as well as fluency in Java (Spring framework), and experience in PHP. Skill in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data. Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems. Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions. Any relevant education, certifications and/or work experience may be considered.
