About This Position

The Department of Public Health Sciences at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine, has an exciting opportunity for a temporary, part-time Research Associate.

The duties and responsibilities for this position may include, but are not limited to:

  • Performs basic research tasks for the development of a publishable manuscript on the association between the social determinants of health and people living with HIV.

  • Manages appropriate databases in excel and SAS.

  • Conducts basic, preliminary data analyses in SAS.

  • Maintains clean and annotated SAS code.

  • Maintains an overview of relevant research findings.

  • Prepares reports of research results for public presentation through seminars and conferences.

  • Undertakes literature searches for the research project. Interprets and presents the findings of the literature searches, advising the research team on relevant articles.

  • Reviews potential target journals to assist the investigative team in identifying the best possible journals for manuscript submission.

  • Contributes to manuscript production by aiding in drafting the introduction section, contextualizing the research, formatting the manuscript, creating tables and figures, and adding references as per journal standards.

  • Ensures all research is undertaken according to good research practice and guidance.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in a basic or health science related area; Master's Degree preferred. Strongly prefer experience in SAS. Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail. Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines. Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion. Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary. Commitment to the University’s core values. Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.
