Job Description:

UF Information Technology (UFIT) is currently seeking a professional level Virtual Systems Administrator to join the Infrastructure & Communication Technology team within UFIT. A competitive candidate will be self-motivated, organized and eager to learn with outstanding communication skills, the ability to adapt to a changing work environment and the skill set required to assess and provide technical solutions to meet the needs of our campus users

The duties of this position include but are not limited to:

Develop, deploy, and maintain Virtual Application and Desktop Service systems and network configurations. Develop and maintain infrastructure components and configurations, including servers, directory services, configuration management, monitoring, and networking configuration.

Administer Continuous Integration and Delivery (CI/CD), version control, load-balancing and unified gateways. Conduct detailed root cause analyses and provides in-depth troubleshooting.

Consult with stakeholders on the operation and technical design of various systems, technologies, and new projects Provide detailed system capacity and feature planning and analysis.

Expected Salary:

$75,000 - $85,000; commensurate based on experience and education. In addition, the University of Florida offers a very competitive benefits package.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience; or a high school diploma or equivalent and six years of experience. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience but does not negate the minimum degree requirement(s).

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Design and manage virtual desktop infrastructures (specifically leveraging Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops) in large-scale enterprise environments using on-premise and cloud deployments
  • Configure load balancer appliances, policies, and virtual server load balancing
  • Image creation and deployment tools such as Citrix App Layering, Machine Creations Services (MCS), and Provisioning Services (PVS)
  • Windows management (Windows 10, Windows Server 2012 R2, 2016 and 2019) with the ability to perform in-depth troubleshooting,
  • Automation with scripting tools using PowerShell and platforms like GitLab CI/CD
  • Configuration management using tools like Ansible
  • Familiarity with orchestration tools such as Terraform

  • Excellent written and oral communication
  • Successfully work with teams on large projects
  • Observe, detect, identify and resolve complex technical challenges and communicate resolutions in a clear and concise manner
