Job Description:

The University of Florida (UF) Department of Epidemiology seeks a diligent, detail-oriented individual to function as a Project Coordinator for the Center for Genetic Epidemiology and Bioinformatics (GeneBio). This position is located in the Department of Epidemiology, jointly housed in the College of Public Health and Health Professions and the College of Medicine. This position will be responsible for planning and coordinating the newly initiated Center for Genetic Epidemiology and Bioinformatics (GeneBio) and its activities; schedule and organize meetings/events and maintain agenda; develop, maintain and update websites and communications; ensure implementation of policies and practices; manage budget and track expenditures/transactions; keep updated records and prepare reports or proposals.

The OPS Project Coordinator is responsible for a variety of projects within the GeneBio Center. This person will be knowledgeable about all studies and able to communicate study criteria and the ability to consent for on-going studies to potential candidates. This position will facilitate sample collection, processing, shipping and storage appropriately, ensure the GeneBio website is up to date with current research information as well as monitoring and maintenance of the website, assist with promotion of GeneBio via social media support, and virtual programs support. This position will also help the Center Director in submitting IRBs, project reports, and other duties as assigned.

The OPS Project Coordinator will work collaboratively with faculty, research staff, and other key personnel and will identify new areas for potential collaboration and research opportunities. The position will maintain PI daily schedule and coordinate research team calls and meetings.

Expected Salary:

$15.00-$20.00 per hour, commensurate with education, skills and experience

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of experience and education and at least one year of research-relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preferred candidates will have a Bachelor's degree with at least one year of relevant experience or graduate degree in Public Health or related field.
  • Experience working in a research or academic setting.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and computer skills (including the MS Office Suite).
  • Must be able to work independently, with minimal supervision, maintain confidentiality and exercise good judgment.
  • Ability to identify priorities and shift when necessary.
