Position Summary:

The Program Coordinator is one of three key roles that will advance the W&M Washington Center and will be responsible to support at least one of the D.C. educational opportunities: the D.C. Summer Institutes, D.C. Semester Program, the D.C. Winter Seminars and Hybrid D.C. Summer Session. These programs make up the foundation of our mission and engage the W&M student community through high-impact educational opportunities.

As the program coordinator for an assigned program(s), incumbents will have the following responsibilities: Administer all aspects of the program which includes student recruitment, student/parent communication, student/alumni networking events, develop the program website and coordinate with faculty on all student programming.

In addition to coordinating at least one of our capstone programs, each coordinator will have responsibility for additional areas of the W&M Washington Center which will include one or more of the following:
•In coordination with the Center for Student Diversity, manage the Washington D.C portion of Preparing for Life as a University Student (PLUS) which includes a summer visit to Washington, D.C. and a spring semester externship. Other diversity and inclusion events may be included.
•In coordination with University Creative Services, manage the W&M Washington Center marketing & communication platform, which includes all social media (creating content, developing a social media strategy), developing an advertising schedule, and may include supervising a social media intern.
•Coordinate and manage large scale events for the W&M Washington Center (includes events in Washington and on main campus)
•Serve as a liaison on the W&M Washington Center Advisory Board
•Serve as the W&M Washington Center career liaison
•Conduct grant research and writing
•Oversee logistics for the W&M Leadership Course series
•Manage the W&M Washington Center Peer Ambassador Initiative
•Manage the W&M Washington Center Volunteer Engagement

Required Qualifications:

•Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
•Experience managing and directing an academic program for undergraduate or graduate students, or comparable program or experience
•Excellent organizational skills
•Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
•Ability to travel to main campus for meetings, recruitment, and student information sessions, along with occasional multi-day trips
•Ability to work independently on professional projects without supervision
•Experience multitasking in a professional setting

Preferred Qualifications:

•Experience managing multiple projects with varying deadlines in a professional setting
•Experience working in a higher education setting, managing ongoing academic programs
•Experience working with alumni

Advertised Pay Range:

Salary range: 42,500-45,000
