Summary of Duties:
Reporting to and partnering with the CEO of Washington State University’s Foundation/VP of Advancement (CEO/VP), the Associate Vice President, Advancement Financial Services (AVP) will play a critical role in developing and implementing fiscal management and reporting strategies across the organization. As a member of the leadership team, the AVP will be an advisor to the CEO/VP, Board of Directors, and other relevant internal stakeholders, evaluating and assisting them with their budgeting, financial monitoring, investment strategy, planning and analysis. The AVP will serve as primary staff representative to the Audit and Finance Committees of the Board and as secondary staff representative (supporting the CEO/VP) to Investment Committee. The AVP will provide a breadth of expertise, supervision and guidance in the areas of: accounting, financial reporting and analysis, audit oversight and management, policy development, compliance, budgeting and forecasting and investment management.
Positions require a Master’s Degree in a related field and a minimum of eight (8) years of related professional experience in a fundraising/development unit or department within a complex organization, with preference given to experience in a higher education setting.
Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Seven (7) years of experience managing teams and/or departments, the ability to motivate staff, articulate vision, and create an inclusive and supportive environment.
Significant experience providing oversight to audit activities as well as managing reporting, budget development and analysis, general ledger and accounting for investments.
Experience working with governing boards and committees in the areas of endowment and investment.
Demonstrated business acumen and strong critical thinking and analytical skills.
Ability to think strategically and creatively and transform new ideas to executable and successful programs.
Supportive and accessible management style with the ability to lead and motivate a diverse staff and encourage change and growth in people and programs.
Conversant with relevant technologies and their uses.
Strong strategic planning and project management skills necessary to accomplish multi-phase long range goals, effectively articulate and measure goals, monitor progress, develop timelines and allocate resources and measure success.
Robust quantitative and analytical skills, including the ability to understand complex budgets.
High degree of personal integrity and a commitment to WSUF’s values and mission.
Advanced degree, such as an MBA or JD.
CPA or professional certification.
Monthly Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
