Rowan-Cabarrus Community College is seeking a Dean of Public Services. The Dean serves as the lead administrator for all Continuing Education (non-credit) and Academic (credit) programs and courses in public service occupations. These include Law Enforcement/Criminal Justice; Fire Protection Technology and Fire/Rescue, Emergency Medical Service, and Emergency Management. Direct reports include the three school directors of the public service programs.Staff Required Education/Experience::
- Master’s degree in relevant field.
- Five years or more of demonstrated success in educational administration.
- Previous or current service in one of the disciplines in the department (EMS, Criminal Justice or Fire/Rescue).

YesDuty and Responsibility::
•Facilitate strategic planning and supervise the preparation of the College educational master plan and the Corporate and Continuing Education Accountability and Integrity Plan for areas of responsibility.
•Develop and evaluate department goals and objectives.
•Plan, develop, and implement innovative programs to provide a rich and supportive student-learning environment.
•Facilitate program growth and improvement.
•Plan, develop, and implement innovative partnerships with public agencies, business and industry in the community to foster a supportive economic development environment, including contract and community education.
•Assess community needs and develop partnerships and other collaborative relationships with business/industry, government agencies, high schools, college, universities and other entities.
•Lead faculty to conduct institutional research and evaluation of student outcomes.
•Recommend initiatives to promote student success and continually improve the divisions’ programs.
•Represent the department at college functions and activities and attend graduation events.
•Administer program planning and enrollment management processes to effectively and efficiently meet student and community needs.
•Align programs with the requirements of SACSCOC, State or National Certification, accrediting bodies, and Licensure Requirements.
•Be aware of and contribute to the culture of the college community.
•Establish and maintain positive relationships with other divisions, departments, external agencies, and peer institutions.
•Serve on, chair, or co-chair advisory boards and/or committees as appropriate.
•Represent the College at public functions and/or in the community.
•Conduct special projects as requested by the Academic Vice President.
•Provide administrative support and direction to faculty, chairs, program directors, site administrators, classified staff, and others.
•Manage the efforts of Program Chairs or Program Directors in developing, coordinating, and evaluating all aspects of the curriculum program areas.
•Work with faculty chairs and program directors in assignment of staff, preparation of the College catalog, class schedules, course offerings and appropriate budgets.
•Organize and conduct departmental meetings and facilitate advisory committee meetings
•Ensure the college complies with national, state, and local level educational program regulations and guidelines, including external accreditation entities.
•Recommend and implement policies and procedures.
•Maintain a positive and professional climate among faculty and staff.
•Support the Vice Presidents of Corporate and Continuing Education and Academic Programs in the selection, orientation, training, mentoring, and evaluation of full-time and part-time staff and faculty members.
•Support the Vice Presidents of Corporate and Continuing Education and Academic Programs in the resolution of student and personnel matters.
•Conduct annual faculty and staff performance evaluations in an effective manner.
•Monitor the role of Cooperative Education Advisors with the Program Chair or Program Director.
•Support appropriate professional development activities.
•Assure compliance with the college’s policies and procedures.
•Review and adjust instructional loads for all program areas relative to the current load benchmarks.
•Lead faculty chairs and program directors in preparing program evaluations and implementing evaluation recommendations.
•Administer processes for department faculty and staff evaluation.
•Encourage collaborative learning.
•Review, prepare and implement the departmental budget.
•Recommend acquisition of new equipment and instructional materials.
•Direct grant and resource development, management and reporting processes.
•Support and help implement technological advancement.
