Job descriptionHolyoke Community College is seeking a qualified instructor or instructors for a series of Hospitality training modules designed for Hotel Room Attendants, Hotel Front Desk Attendants, and Hotel Supervisor/Manager training, covering basic skills in training for the Hospitality industry. The instructor will develop customized, hands-on lesson plans and activities for hybrid (online and face-to-face) training. Responsible for planning, development and execution of training modules for adult job seekers, including those in early stages of recovery from addiction. Access to Recovery is a Job Readiness and occupational skills training program for un- and underemployed job seekers in recovery, funded through a grant from the MA, Bureau of Substance Addiction Services (BSAS). Prepares syllabus, assessments, lesson plans and activities; provides to Assistant VP or Jump Start Lead Program Administrator in advance of each class for approval.Assists in developing curriculum approved by the Assistant VP or Jump Start Lead Program Administrator.Teaches assigned curriculum in accordance with course syllabus and assessments as scheduled; ensures all classes start on time and as scheduled; notifies the Assistant VP or Jump Start Lead Program Administrator at least 3 hours in advance when a situation occurs that could prevent class from starting on time.Teaches Fundamentals of Hotel Operations, Etiquette and Proper Service, Point of Sale software, Room Sanitation and Safety, OSHA-10, Food and Beverage, Managing Multiple Priorities, Making a Successful Shift from Manager to Supervisor, Guest Service Gold Customer Service, and other required topics according to area(s) of expertise.Incorporates actual workplace scenarios, case studies, procedures into the courses.Evaluates students’ written assignments and written and practical exams as applicable.Ability to work with classroom style as provided in order to meet specifications of course; ensures all labs & equipment are properly maintained and secured; ensures all equipment and supplies are returned to storage and secured following each class as necessary; immediately reports any issues to the Assistant VP or Jump Start Lead Program Administrator.Completes required reporting and documentation, including assessment of learning outcomes, attendance verifications, evaluations, etc.Must be able to commit to hours of courses as scheduled.Performs other duties as assigned by administration.Qualifications
REQUIRED:Bachelor’s degree in related field is required along with prior teaching experience particularly in a community college or workforce training environment. Instructor may be asked to assist in the development of these and other classes and courses; Minimum of 2 years current industry experience; Demonstrated strong communication, writing and presentation skills; Strong facilitation/training experience in-group context with a commitment to working with diverse populations; Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple assignments and coordinate training session logistics.PREFERRED: Previous experience working with students in recovery or other vulnerable populations. Industry certifications. Experience teaching in online or hybrid formats. Experience working with diverse populations and/or Bilingual speaking skills.
