The Entrepreneurship Center (Eship Center) at Kenan-Flagler Business School leads the curricular and co-curricular activities in entrepreneurship on behalf of the Kenan-Flagler Business School. The Eship Center inspires, motivates, and develops entrepreneurial leaders of tomorrow to have a positive impact on the world. This includes UNC Chapel Hill’s undergraduate and graduate students, as well as the entrepreneurial community beyond UNC.
The Associate Director of Community Engagement and DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) will manage and lead the activities for Community Engagement, Operations, and DEI. The Associate Director will lead all of the Eship Center’s activities around engaging with the community outside of UNC. This includes building and maintaining strong relationships with a diverse set of entrepreneurial leaders, which include UNC alums and others in the entrepreneurial ecosystem, who will serve as our external advisors, mentors, speakers, etc. In addition, the Associate Director will build relationships with scaling and growing businesses that the Eship Center will connect with for hands-on learning experiences for UNC students through internships and consulting projects, as well as learning opportunities for the business’ staff through Scale School, open enrollment classes for professional development for startup leaders. In addition to the Community related activities, the Associate Director will also build and implement efficient processes around onboarding community members and businesses, placing and matching of mentors/ speakers/ coaches, financial processes, data management, and other operational procedures. The Associate Director will also set standards and tracking mechanisms around data, including DEI. To support the Eship Center’s goal for creating an inclusive entrepreneurial ecosystem, the Associate Director will provide resources, training, processes, standards, and goals for our faculty and staff. The Associate Director will report into the Executive Director for The Eship Center.Educational Requirements:
An undergraduate degree is required. Master’s degree preferred. All degrees must be from accredited institutions.Qualifications and Experience:
Six years of progressive experience in program management, operational management, community building, with some experience with diversity, equity, and inclusion programs. Will accept four years of experience with a Master’s degree.
Preferred Experience and demonstrated abilities:
-Prior experience in a university environment.
Experience in program evaluation, data analysis, and reporting.
-Experience with managing financial processes and budgets.
-Knowledge of the entrepreneurial process.
-Experience managing multiple programs/projects simultaneously and/or programs/projects involving cross-functional alignment.
