Description of Work:The person in this position will be the Administrative Support Specialist for the Caregivers at Carolina Program in the School of Medicine. This program supports early career physician scientists who are facing substantial caregiving demands at home. The Administrative Support Specialist would assist the physician scientists with formatting manuscripts or grants to meet journal or funding agency specifications, submitting manuscripts or grants electronically, generating graphs for manuscripts or grants. This individual may also conduct literature searches needed for grant applications. They would also assist with coordinating the annual application and review cycles for the program, bi-annual networking luncheons and assist the program directors with gathering information for the annual progress report.
Education and Experience:High school diploma or equivalency and one year of related office experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience. Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred. Experience with copy editing, reviewing written documents for accuracy, and creating professional documents and figures. Strong grammatical skills are required. This individual should be highly proficient with Microsoft Office, including creation of professional PowerPoint presentations and use of Excel. Experience working with multiple supervisors, juggling competing demands, and prioritizing tasks.
