Job Summary: Performs advanced professional accounting activities for a specialized, complex assignment or functional area requiring application of an advanced professional knowledge of accounting principles and practices. Ensures or evaluates compliance and accountability of financial programs and business operations/processes. May supervise or lead lower level professional accountants and other staff.
Additional Department Summary: This position assists with overseeing the daily financial operations for the College of Continuing Studies. This person exercises independent judgment in checking and processing financial documents in an effort to assure compliance with University and State regulations. CCS has revenue in excess of $30 million and expenditures in excess of $20 million. The volume of financial transactions is ever increasing and it is necessary that the paperwork be processed in a timely and accurate manner in accordance with University policies and procedures. It is imperative that accurate financial records are maintained so that the College's Dean and Directors can make sound fiscal decisions.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance and three (3) years of professional accounting experience; OR a Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business and two (2) years of professional accounting experience; OR CPA and two (2) years of professional accounting experience.
Skills and Knowledge: Must have experience with computer applications such as Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint. Possess knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, policies and procedures, purchasing and receivables, or other accounting administrative functions.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Accounting
