The Department of Family Medicine is one of eleven clinical departments at the Brody School of Medicine. The purpose of the department is to improve the health of the people of eastern North Carolina through leadership in Family Medicine education, research and health care services. The department provides accessible, high quality health care for its patients.
The Department of Family Medicine consists of seven divisions, as well as a central administration office. Each division has a responsibility that supports the overall mission of the department. The divisions include educational development, research, medical student education, residency, geriatrics, clinical services, and sports medicine. Clinical activities take place in the Family Medicine Center, Robert and Frances Monk Geriatric Center, Firetower Medical Office, nursing homes, Vidant Medical Center and in the community.Job Duties :
The Department of Family Medicine is seeking a Patient Access Representative to handle the patient registration at the Family Medicine Center. Thorough knowledge of medical registration, scheduling, and managed care authorization processes is desirable. Experience with automated scheduling is highly desirable. Experience in a medical setting with payment collection and posting with attention to detail is preferred. The candidate of choice has to demonstrate the ability to handle a high volume of patient traffic and phone calls and be able to communicate effectively with patients. Hours of operation for this position will be primarily 8-5 Monday through Friday.

The ECU Brody School of Medicine is affiliated with Vidant Medical Center. Vidant Medical Center is the flagship hospital for Vidant Health and serves as the teaching hospital for the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina UniversityMinimum Education/Experience:
High school diploma or equivalency and one year of related office experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.License or Certification required by statute or regulation:

Preferred education and experience: Associate Degree in Medical Office Administration, Business Administration, Healthcare Management Technology, or other related degree from an accredited two year program with 1 year of healthcare experience or equivalent education or experience.License or Certification required by the Department:
