The Financial Conflicts of Interest (FCOI) and Export Control (EC) Program Manager serves as a vital member of the FCOI/Export Control Program. The Program Manager has responsibility for oversight of the Research FCOI and EC program to ensure compliance with federal regulations and institutional policies. Responsibilities include: coordination and administrative leadership of the Faculty Review Committee on FCOI and EC meetings; maintenance of records documenting the committee activities; management of the online FCOI and EC systems and databases; and tracking compliance with management plans and export control requirements. Additionally, the Program Manager monitors related regulatory updates and industry best practices; drafts and updates FCOI and EC policies, procedures and guidelines; and coordinates training and education of BU staff about FCOI and EC policies. The Manager will work under the direction of the Assistant Director of Research Integrity and in collaboration with compliance officials across BU to align processes to ensure consistency across all programs. The Program Manager will generally perform the following functions: Assist with the development and implementation of FCOI and EC policies, procedures, practices and training programs designed to promote compliant practices and mitigate risk; Promote awareness of institutional resources and developments in relevant policies and regulations, and providing specialized training to the BU research community; Create, coordinate, and implement strategies to improve FCOI and EC office productivity; Maintain FCOI and EC records, analyze data, and prepare reports for various regulatory bodies; Provide comprehensive regulatory guidance to the BU research community; Keep abreast of federal, state, and local developments and compliance efforts related to research and develop communication tools to share this information effectively across the BU research community; and Participate or lead special FCOI and EC projects from concept to completion.

Required Skills

Bachelors degree, related academic or research compliance experience considered in substitution; strong analytic skills; excellent written and oral communication skills; working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and Access database; excellent attention to detail and organizational skills; sensitivity to and the ability to maintain confidentiality; ability to synthesize and communicate complex analyses and discussions into written documentation. Prior experience in an academic research setting and related professional work experience with compliance and/or regulatory activities a strong plus. J.D. preferred.
