Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) trainer

Position Summary:

In the Partnerships for Educational Equity and Research (PEER) lab, our goal is to engage in research practice partnerships that support school districts in understanding and implementing policies and practices that promote equity and contribute to our larger understanding of the practice of systemic change in educational systems.

PEER is currently seeking part time JEDI trainers who are expert facilitators (and developers) of professional learning focused on justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Position Duties & Responsibilities:

Specific duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Professional Development and Training: Lead professional development for school district personnel focused on topics including social justice, racial equity, intersectionality (race, gender, sexuality, class, religion, ability, and all other social identity categories), power/privilege, microaggressions, implicit bias, culturally sustaining and critical pedagogies, healing centered/trauma informed practices.

Communication: Maintain regular meetings and communication with key stakeholders- Faculty, Doctoral Students, District Partners. Contribute to the ongoing reputation and relationships of PEER, support the social media and outreach efforts of the partnership.

Continuous Improvement: Contribute to the development of new professional development resources and materials. Support evaluation and reporting activities by collecting data after each training and utilizing that to improve delivery

Position Qualifications:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in education or related field, Masters degree preferred
  • Experience working in k12 school districts
  • Experience in leading trainings focused on Justice, Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to work independently while also collaborating with team members
  • Expertise with microsoft office suite, google suite, facebook and other webased applications
  • Position Schedule:

    6-12 hours per week

    Must be able to attend standing team meetings (Wednesdays, 11:30-1:30). Other meetings will be scheduled in regular patterns for the year, but may be morning, afternoon, or evening.

    Zoom during COVID. If/When we return to campus, some meetings will be in person at local SJ school districts (mileage will be covered).
