To be considered for the WRFL GA for Events and Marketing position, applicants must demonstrate acceptance and entrance into a UK graduate program and completion of both High School and a Bachelor’s Degree.Required Related Experience:
The WRFL GA for Events and Marketing will be expected to work an average of 20 hours a week through the Summer, Fall, and Spring Terms. Due to the nature of working with students, work hours will include days, nights, and weekends as dictated by the organization and department’s needs.Job Summary:
The Graduate Assistant (GA) for WRFL Events and Marketing will work with WRFL’s Advisor (a full-time professional staff member) while coaching WRFL student leaders in the planning and facilitation of concerts and other events aimed at promoting the WRFL brand to the University of Kentucky and Lexington communities. In addition, this position will involve helping students develop and execute marketing strategies beyond event planning toward the promotion of the WRFL brand to the station’s listening audience.
Primary job functions will include:
•Ongoing communication and planning with student directors, artists, agencies, and vendors
•Assisting with negotiation and contractual processes for WRFL events with WRFL’s Advisor retaining final signatory authority
•Assisting students with development and implementation of promotional campaigns and marketing strategies for WRFL
•Co-advisement of WRFL student leaders and their programs as determined by WRFL Advisor
•Providing professional advisement to student-driven event programming, inclusive of program planning, contract review, logistics, production, promotion, and assessment
•Assisting in the management of WRFL’s events budget
•Assisting in the development of assessments for WRFL concerts and events
•Attending WRFL Board of Directors and General Staff meetings once per month (same as WRFL Advisor), weekly meetings with student leaders, retreats, programs, concerts, and events
•Serving as a point of contact for WRFL student leaders, campus partners, community agencies, etc.
•Maintaining open and ongoing communication with GA supervisor
•Building and maintaining rapport with students and staff across UK’s Office of Student Organizations and Activities
•Supporting other programs and events sponsored by the UK’s Office of Student Organizations and Activities as needed
