The department of General Surgery is seeking a Patient Services Coordinator.
Will coordinate and schedule multiple physician cases in the operation room and/or endoscopy suite at UK, Good Samaritan, and CAS.
Utilize the PICIS system for scheduling operating room cases and endoscopy. Position is responsible for assigning CPT/ICD-9 or ICD 10 codes to operation room/ endoscopy cases for scheduling. Manage the schedule of the in-office minor surgery/procedure room.
Work with other surgery coordinators to schedule cases that require multiple physicians (i.e. GYN, Plastics, and Urology). Coordinates/schedules pre-op anesthesiology and cardiac clearance exams prior to scheduled OR date.
Follow up on patient visits to ensure OR cases are cleared and can proceed as scheduled. Work with patients, families and staff within the Pre-op Medicine and Cardiology clinics to arrange appointments. Utilize APM to schedule visits.
Prepare preop binders for anesthesia including: Patient History Form, OR Posting Sheet, Consent for Surgery, H & P, Pre-op Medicine Orders, Medication Reconciliation List. Ensure binders arrive in Pre-operative Medicine per department guidelines.
Responsible for sending signed operative consents to Medical Records for scanning into AEHR. Place scheduled cases on physician’s Outlook calendar.Skills / Knowledge / Abilities:
Excellent verbal communication skills, strong written communication skills, advanced office (computer applications, office management, database management/reporting, etc.) skills preferred, ability to work independently.Does this position have supervisory responsibilities? :
