Description:
The Department of Neurosurgery at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Associate or Full Professor position in either the non-tenure clinician educator track or the tenure track. Expertise is required in the specific area of brain tumor surgery, brain tumor research, and leadership of a multi-disciplinary brain tumor program. Applicants must have an M.D or M.D./Ph.D. degree. ABNS certification is required.
Teaching responsibilities may include education of medical students, residents, and fellows.
Clinical responsibilities may include may include neurosurgical management of brain and skull base tumors and oversight of the multi-disciplinary care of brain and skull base tumor patients, including clinical trials.
Research or scholarship responsibilities may include leadership of clinical, translational, and/or basic research in brain tumors, with funding from the National Institutes of Health and other federal funding agencies as PI.
The proposed leadership role spans the Penn Medicine health system, which includes six hospitals in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, as well as Penn Medicine's Abramson Cancer Center, a world leader in patient care, cancer research and education that has been continuously designated as a Comprehensive Cancer Center by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) since 1973.
